Woodland Raised Pork
Red wattle hogs are a heritage breed of hog that has been around for a while, but is not widely known. Their popularity is growing, however. They are known for their docile temperament, fast growth, dark meat, and the little red wattles that hang down from their neck. When we have excess goat and cow milk, we feed it to the "feeder pigs" - or the pigs we are growing for slaughter. When milk is not available, we feed a locally sourced (grown and milled in Warren County, NC) non-GMO feed. They grow fast and have just the right amount of fat to make great sausage.
We are currently accepting deposits on half and whole hogs, to be processed and delivered in November. With a $200 deposit (half) or a $400 deposit (whole) you can select the exact cuts and sausages you want to fill your freezer. Final price is $10 per pound for a half hog, and $8.50 per pound for a whole hog, based on the final weight of meat received. This includes processing, so there are no hidden costs or additional fees (other than 2% sales tax).
A half will yield around 90 pounds of finished cuts and a whole will yield around 180 pounds of finished cuts. Contact us today to reserve your pork! Supply is limited!
